What Is A Double Cleanse? And Why Should I Care?

What is a double cleanse?

💆‍♀️Double cleanse is an easy to follow skincare step. And is thee most important step in any skincare routine. It’s a cleansing method that uses two types of cleansers typically an oil-based cleanser, such as Blue Dew and a water-based cleanser.

💪The idea is that oil cleansers remove oil-based impurities such as makeup, sebum and SPF, and daily build up to make way for the deep cleansing effects of a water-based cleanser. Water cleansers remove water-based impurities such as sweat and dirt and they are more of a thorough cleanse as 70% of the surface of the skin is hydrophilic (water-loving), meaning that water-based cleansers can get deep into the skin effortlessly removing impurities.

Double cleansing is especially important if you live in a city as being exposed to daily pollutants and environmental stressors can amplify skin issues such as acne breakouts, sensitivity and scarring.

The benefits of double cleansing

Cleaner, softer skin

Preps the skin for the rest of your products

A cleaner surface allows skincare products to work more effectively

Why should I care?

🤔 Well, having a thoroughly cleaned face, before applying skincare and beauty products will improve the efficacy of these products, as they can penetrate deeper. Double cleansing will help to properly prep the skin by removing excess dirt, oil and sweat, without stripping the skin of it's natural oils. That's why we use hydrating avocado, antioxidant-rich sesame and brightening papaya and pineapple enzymes in our new oil to milk cleanser, Blue Dew.

The result? A healthier overall look and smoother skin feel. Besides, is there any better feeling than returning home after a day/night out, and doing your nighttime skincare routine, knowing that your skin has been properly cleaned?
