When it comes to face oils there is a lot of confusing information out there, so if you're feeling a lil, erm confused. We've broken it down for you...
Face oils are beneficial to all skin types. This includes oily skin types. It’s actually a myth that oily and acne-prone skin types can’t use facial oils, they can be great for balancing your skin's natural sebum production and especially helpful for improving skin tone, texture and the appearance of acne scars and hyperpigmentation.
Not all oils are created equal and SOME oils are not recommended for oily skin as they can clog pores, but others are great for regulating sebum production, keeping oil levels balanced and the dreaded end of the day shine at bay.
Jojoba is a great example, as the oil mimics sebum (the oil your skin naturally produces) and will help to balance oil levels in the skin.
Now to how to apply face oils...
Face oils should be used as the last step in your skincare routine, this is because oils form a thin protective layer over your skin locking in moisture from all your previous products. If oils are applied first, this essentially locks out moisture, which can lead to dehydrated and dry skin.
To get the glow, you want to be applying your lightest products first, these tend to be water based products, like toners or essences. Next, apply your moisturiser, eye creams and then it's time to oil up.
I prefer to use Clean Greens after my moisturiser, it's fast-absorbing, non-clogging (thanks in part to the cold-pressed Jojoba oil) and it gives me the holiest of glows. The very, last step is applying SPF. SPF is always last, (yes even in the winter huns, SPF is your BFF).
And that's it. To get your natural skin glow try our award winning Clean Greens Superfood Serum, winner of Women's Health Awards Best Facial Oil of 2020.
May the glow be with you!
